Plan B – Delete.manifest file virus with Infections Quick Removal Tool and Recover the Infected Files Step 1 – Start a scan with SpyHunter to remove.manifest file virus completely. Question: Q: deleting infected files that Avast anti virus scan wont delete My MAC needs a clean bill of health before I start work on a project. I have used Avast Security and there are 2 files that it will not delete - I have tried countless times and they keep reappearing on the subsequent scan. The Virus Chest in Avast Security for Mac is an isolated space where you can safely store potentially dangerous files before applying further actions. Files in the Virus Chest cannot run or access your system and data, so any malicious code contained within a file is unable to harm your Mac. Encrypted files, ZIP archives, and system files which are in use often cannot be scanned. To view the non-scanned file details do the following: In the Avast program go to Reports and click Open next to the report details you want to view. In the scan report window right-click and choose Non-scanned.

That is Windows malware, and not a threat to your computer. It is in your local snapshots, which are backups kept on your internal hard drive for one week. Anything older than one week is removed. Just ignore this, and it'll be removed on its own.
This came onto your machine via e-mail, as LowLuster points out. You should NEVER let any anti-virus software remove malware of any kind from your e-mail. Doing so will probably leave it on the server (depending on your Mail settings), where it could be re-downloaded to your computer again, and will also corrupt the mailbox indices. For proper removal, see:

Finally, note that Avast has a serious and long-standing problem with false positives. I don't generally recommend it.
